A draw in the preseason is no reason to hitch up your lady skirt, jump onto a chair, and burst into tears like you’ve just seen a mouse, but by the same token, we are allowed to make observations.

Tottenham appeared to be largely outmanoeuvred by Sevilla for much of the game, which for us resulted in a frustrating watch. So the question is, how come?

If we look at the data, there’s perhaps an initial clue in the shape the teams were set out, with Tottenham in a 3-4-3, using wing backs, and Sevilla opting for a 4-2-3-1…
