In excess of £5 billion

Some Tottenham fans may want to look away now as it emerges that Liverpool Football Club was valued at £3.89 billion by Forbes back in May, and it is thought that Manchester United is now expecting offers in excess £5 billion.

The real issue with all these telephone numbers, as I’ve argued previously, is how might any of these prospective buyers expect to get a decent return on their investment?

The fact that two English top-flight sides have within a short space of time placed for sale signs in their front lawns more than suggests that the European Super League has been mothballed.

“If we look at the legends of tennis, [Rafael] Nadal and [Roger] Federer played each other 40 times in 15 years. So far, Nadal and [Novak] Djokovic have faced each other 59 times in 16 years. Is this boring?”

As recently as last month, Real Madrid’s Florentino Perez was trowelling it on that the best of the best need to face each other with greater frequency and used tennis as an example.

Since then, Comcast announced a significant crash in subscriptions, which we can only presume to be the signal from the market that the consumers aren’t ready to pay for a box office product at this stage.

Despite what the lefty loons on Twitter may tell you, the world isn’t careering into an unimaginably nasty recession because of Boris Johnson or Liz Truss. The root of the problem has been recouping all that wonderful free money everyone around the globe was busy trousering over the pandemic years, plus the sizable impact of the situation in Ukraine.

To sell one’s club now is clearly an indicator that nothing exceptional is just around the corner anymore. Indeed, the outlook has more of a hunker down and trade your way through it, feel to it.

Too many Tottenham fans are akin to those deranged nitwits at the Wembley Box Park that were dancing in beer as England bested mighty Iran the other day.

Damaged lives with a small-time world view, inventing reasons to exert emotion. Willingly going nuts over not very much, as a release from the true tedium of their tepid existences.

The good news is that we haven’t done a Leeds. The bad news is that the NFL are unlikely to buck the global market and freight up their European operations, any time soon.

And why oh why hasn’t the Soul Harvesting Device got any more live music booked, yet?

When you think you've heard the pinacle of dribbling shillery you got Stuart pearce of all people telling us we will look back on this winter crowbarred Qatar farce as a triffic thing cos, amng other things, "we've been hankering after a winter break for years" .....only , it's not a break is it you Pillock. ...It's flying to Asia to play in Saharan temperatures for a month. Nevermind the manslaughter in building the thing and the fact the first half of the season was garbage and littered with players saving themselves metinoning no names son heung min(no I don't care about the rainbow flags, sport is only good for pushing new world order ideology these days....you got england fans being told not to dress as St George cos it'll offend Muslims, meanwhile the england team woulda flown to Qatar on a giant gay man's penis like the neverending story if it wasn't logistically impossible...but ya know $#@# the Muslims in that respect, if the players really cared about these issues they'd boycott, but then theyd miss out on a month of battering people over the head with the agenda so....).this is the first WC I haven't watched and it's seemingly a good move with 4 or 5 nil Nils in the first few days....so yes, I wonder if pearce is on bein sports payrole cos somebody must have shoved him a few quid to defend this shower. Spoiler alert....Brazil win
